What's the difference between an MDB, SMDB, and DB panel?
They form a hierarchy: the main distribution board (MDB) takes the incoming utility or generator feed and sits at the top; the sub-distribution board (SMDB) splits that into zone- or floor-level circuits; the final distribution board (DB) is the last stage before individual outlets and lighting circuits. Skipping a level, or undersizing one, is a mistake that often doesn't surface until the building is occupied.
